Ripping through and bleeding out of twisted stereo wires, Coffin Pricks combine guitar skree and scathing vocals into something frantic and stunning. A noisy smear of tense and fractured melodies gives way to a unique & twisted take on decades of bastardized rock structure. The Pricks channel a dirty, occult vibe as they slash and burn their way through three speedy tales of depravity, disappearance, and anxiety, whose frenzied change-ups create a feeling of paranoia for the first-time listener. Manic guitar riffs kick down the doors as Chris Thomson's razor-sharp word play cuts right to the heart of all matters. Volleys of burned-out bass riffs collide with pulsating drum attack throughout the record's buildup until the tension is stopped on a dime and decimated by scratched guitar strings and shattered drumsticks.
Group Home Haircut is the highly awaited debut from this Chicago outfit that features vocalist Chris Thomson (ex-Monorchid, Skull Kontrol, Red Eyed Legends), guitarist Ryan Weinstein (ex-Cavity, Euphone, White Savage), drummer Jeff Rice (Daylight Robbery, Ottowa), and bassist Chay Lawrence (Bob Tilton). These three frenetic, searing numbers were recorded & engineered by studio extraordinaire Mike Lust (Tight Phantomz, Football) at Phantom Manor studio and feature cover art by John Herndon (Tortoise).
Coffin Pricks have shared the stage with Obits, Melt Banana, Eleventh Dream Day, The Cairo Gang, Call Me Lightning, and Joan of Arc and are planning an extensive US tour for the summer of 2012.
